I love creating artwork such as the Watermatic™ which promotes good health and is visually beautiful while serving a practical purpose. I feel that I create freeform art from a place that embodies emotion and movement with elegance."
After 14 years of traditional training with a host of Australian potters, Alex completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Ceramics). Experts have acknowledged Alex's flair and technical expertise. An extraordinary talent enhances his training and education. He was awarded La Trobe University's Siens Acquisitive Art Award, a competition he helped judge several times since. BendigoRegionalArtGallery recently purchased a major piece to enhance their contemporary collection. In 2004 he established his extensive studio-factory at the Bendigo Pottery Complex, where Alex's 'Innovative Ceramics' are made today.
Alex Simmons draws inspiration from the Minimalist art movement. He is also influenced by the work of Hans Coper and Constantin Brancusi. The precise designs and strikingly modern style of Alex's thinking and work brings a new direction to the ceramic medium.
